Electrical Problems and what to do about them
After just getting back from Best Buy with my new plasma TV and Xbox 360, I was ready for some gaming fun. I plugged everything in, and as soon as I turned on the TV, my entire house went dark. I looked for the circuit breaker without a flashlight, and finally found the box. Using my phone, I saw something very strange. Instead of normal breakers like I’m used to, my house ran on glass fuses. The landlord never mentioned that during the walkthrough! Wanting to enjoy my new purchases, I called a Electrician in Salt Lake City right away. They showed up quickly, and after laughing at me and giving me a spare flashlight, got right to work. They told me many houses in Utah still use glass fuses and had the fuses in their truck. I learned my lesson, and now make sure I don’t have any appliances running when my Xbox and TV are on. Not ideal, but hey, at least I don’t own this house!
