When Timing is Everything
They say everything is bigger in Texas and I almost found out the hard way that so is the scale of flood damage. After living here for several years I had heard little about floods and figured that I was completely immune. I didn’t carry specific flood insurance and didn’t even bother to ask my home-owners insurance if I would be covered in such an event. I frankly didn’t really care because the issue seemed so far away. I had absolutely no idea what I would do for flood restoration in Houston. Well one year after a buddy of mine lost just about everything in a flood within a nearby town because he was not covered by insurance I figured maybe it’s time for me to get prepared. I checked out my options, what seemed reasonable and all that then got onboard. Boy was I glad that I did come the turn of the season.
Exceeding heavy rainfall coupled with a few other extraordinary environmental conditions lead to a flash flood, the biggest one in decades. My neighborhood was fairly marred and after the initial surge it was time to assess the damage. While I kept most of my valuable items out of harms way there was significant damage to the materials which comprised my home. There was de-lamination, discolorations, deterioration and just about any other unsavory damages you can imagine. I could hardly believe that just a few months prior I would have been on my own in terms of dealing with the aftermath. I went ahead and called up these Houston water extraction servicemen and had them send a few techs out to my home. They worked quite diligently to get my home back to normal and actually did a pretty impressive job of it all. They were so knowledgeable and efficient that I referred them over to several of my neighbors for whom they also did an excellent job. Best part of all was their direct insurance billing that really took a lot of footwork out of the whole process. In the end the expense was modest and I have become a strong advocate of flood insurance.
